AI visibility tools tell you whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews mention your brand and link to your site when people ask about your market. It is the newest category in SEO software, and it moves fast: most of these tools did not exist two years ago, and their prices and engine lists change every few months. This guide compares ten options, from enterprise trackers to free checks, and separates two jobs that most lists blur together: tracking whether AI cites you, and fixing the reasons it does not.
- Enterprise brands: Profound, up to 9 AI engines, custom pricing.
- Daily tracking for marketing teams: Peec AI, from €85 a month.
- Most prompts for the money: LLMrefs, 500 prompts for $79 a month.
- Low-cost start: Otterly.AI from $29, or Rankscale from $17 a month on yearly billing.
- Already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs: their AI Visibility toolkit or Brand Radar.
- Fix your site for AI and track mentions, on a small budget: Daylytix, from €9.99 a month.
- Free: the Generative AI report in Search Console and the free checkers from Ahrefs and Semrush.
Disclosure: Daylytix is our product. Its AI search features are part of an SEO audit platform, not a dedicated tracker: if tracking hundreds of prompts across many engines and countries is the job, the specialist tools on this list do more. We say where each tool fits, including ours.
Tracking or readiness: two different jobs
A tracker that shows you are missing from ChatGPT’s answers does not tell you that your robots.txt blocks OpenAI’s search crawler. A readiness audit does not tell you whether a competitor is recommended instead. Most teams need some of both.
One caution before you compare dashboards: AI answers change from one run to the next, by engine, by country and by how the question is worded. A tracker samples those answers; it does not measure a fixed “ranking” the way a rank tracker does for Google results. Trends over many prompts and many runs mean more than any single result.
What to compare
- Engines covered: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Several tools charge extra per engine.
- Prompts per month and how often they run: the main pricing unit. Fifty prompts checked daily is a different product from five hundred checked weekly.
- Countries and languages, if you work outside the US.
- Citations: which URLs the AI linked to, yours and your competitors’.
- Site readiness checks, or whether you need a separate audit tool for that.
- Price and trial, checked on the vendor’s own page.
Every price and feature below comes from the vendor’s own website, checked on 3 October 2026, and each section links to its source. We did not buy plans for the other tools to write this article, so we describe what each vendor documents rather than claim tests we did not run.

7. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Brand Radar works two ways: tracking the prompts you define, or exploring any brand’s visibility across a large index of prompts with no setup.

- The AI Visibility Index covers 449 million prompts, so you can see who gets mentioned in a market, including brands you do not own.

8. SE Ranking AI Search
SE Ranking adds AI search tracking to its platform as an add-on.
What stands out
- 200 prompts tracked across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
- Sits next to rank tracking, keyword research and the website audit in one platform.
Limits
- Needs a paid SE Ranking plan underneath (Core is €109 a month).

Readiness and tracking in one audit
9. Daylytix
Daylytix is an SEO audit platform with AI search built into every audit. Where trackers tell you whether you appear in AI answers, Daylytix starts with why you might not: it checks whether AI systems can crawl, parse and quote the site, and turns the gaps into fixes.
What stands out
- AI readiness in every audit: a GEO scorecard, an audit of which AI crawlers your robots.txt allows or blocks (separating training bots from the search bots that cite pages), structured data and entity checks, how quotable the content is, and whether an llms.txt file is published.
- A prompt tracker (in beta): save the prompts your buyers ask, run them through Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT and Perplexity, and see mentions, cited URLs and share of voice against competitors over time.
- Everything else an SEO audit needs: 150+ checks, Search Console and GA4 data, and reports you can send to a client.
Limits
- The prompt tracker uses your own AI provider API keys, so you pay the provider for each run, and it asks the models through their APIs, which can answer differently from the consumer apps a signed-in user sees.
- No Google AI Overviews or AI Mode tracking; use Search Console’s Generative AI report for those.
- Not built for hundreds of prompts across many countries; a dedicated tracker does that better.

Free AI visibility checks
10. Free ways to check your AI visibility
- Google Search Console, Generative AI performance report: Google’s own data on how your content performs in its generative AI features in Search and Discover. It is the only source here that shows real Google data rather than sampled answers.
- Ahrefs AI Visibility Checker: shows how a brand appears across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, with the top 5 results per section and no signup.
- Semrush AI visibility checker: an AI visibility score, mentions and cited pages across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews, three times a day without an account.
These give you a snapshot, not ongoing tracking, and no view of why you are missing.

How to improve AI visibility: what actually helps
Google’s own guide to its generative AI features is blunt: from Google Search’s perspective, optimizing for generative AI search is still SEO, and many suggested “hacks” do not work. The practical list:
- Be indexable and eligible for snippets. Google says a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, and the site must be included in Search generative AI features in Search Console.
- Let the right crawlers in. Other AI systems use their own search crawlers, such as OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT search and PerplexityBot. If robots.txt blocks them, those engines cannot cite your pages. See our robots.txt guide.
- Write content worth citing. Original, helpful pages with clear answers near the top. See how to rank in AI Overviews and answer engine optimization.
- Use structured data for what it does. Google says no special schema is needed for its AI features, but structured data still helps with rich results. See how to add schema markup.
- Treat llms.txt as optional. Google says Google Search ignores llms.txt files, and that publishing one for other services neither helps nor harms you in Google. See what llms.txt is.
- Measure with real data first. Search Console’s Generative AI report for Google, then a tracker for the other engines.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI visibility tool?
A tool that measures how often AI engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention your brand and cite your pages when people ask about your market. Some tools also check whether your site is technically ready to be read and cited by AI systems.
How do I track my brand in ChatGPT?
List the questions your buyers ask, then run them through ChatGPT regularly with a tracker such as Peec AI, Otterly.AI, LLMrefs or Rankscale, or with the prompt tracker in an SEO platform. Track many prompts over time rather than single answers, because responses vary between runs.
Is there a free AI visibility tool?
Yes. Search Console’s Generative AI performance report shows Google’s own data for its AI features, and Ahrefs and Semrush offer free AI visibility checkers that need no account. They give a snapshot rather than ongoing tracking.
What is GEO, and is it different from SEO?
GEO, generative engine optimization, is the work of improving how a brand appears in AI-generated answers. Google’s position is that optimizing for its generative AI search is still SEO: indexable pages, helpful original content and sound technical foundations. Other AI engines add their own crawlers and sources to consider.
How do I increase my visibility in AI search?
Make sure your pages are indexable and that robots.txt allows AI search crawlers, publish original content that answers questions clearly, use structured data, and earn mentions on sites AI engines cite. An audit that checks these points shows where to start; you can run one with Daylytix free for 7 days.
Which AI visibility tool is best?
It depends on scale. Enterprise brands look at Profound; marketing teams at Peec AI; teams wanting many prompts for a fixed price at LLMrefs; Semrush and Ahrefs users at their own modules. If the site itself needs work first, start with a readiness audit, then add a tracker.
