Bing Webmaster Tools data adds Bing’s view of your site to the audit: how Bing crawls and indexes it and which pages get clicks from Bing. It connects with an API key from your Bing Webmaster Tools account.
Getting an API key
- Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools and make sure your site is verified there.
- Open Settings → API access and generate an API key.
- Copy the key.
Adding it to Daylytix
- Open App Settings → Search & SERP → Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Paste the key. If you manage sites in several Bing accounts, click + Add another API key for each account.
- Click Test next to a key. Optionally enter a Site URL for test to check that the key can see that site; without it, the test reports how many verified sites the key can access.
- Save your settings.
At audit time Daylytix tries each key in order and uses the first one with access to the audited site. If none has access, the Bing section is skipped for that audit.
What you get
The Bing WMT tab in the audit shows:
- crawl totals for the last 30 days: pages crawled, crawl errors, 4xx and 5xx responses and DNS failures;
- pages in Bing’s index, pages blocked by robots.txt and inbound links;
- crawl issues per URL (up to 200);
- your top 30 pages by impressions, with clicks;
- Bing AI search performance, where Bing provides it.
Why connect Bing
Bing is a search engine in its own right, with its own index and its own view of your site. Crawl errors that Bing reports often point to problems that affect other crawlers too.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Test fails | Copy the full, current key again from Bing Webmaster Tools (Settings → API Access) and paste it without spaces. |
| Key works but the site is missing | The site must be verified in the same Bing account that created the key. |
| No Bing tab in the audit | No saved key had access to the audited site. |
Bing data in Looker Studio, Power BI or Google Sheets
The same API key also works outside Daylytix. To build your own Bing dashboards, see How to connect Bing Webmaster Tools to Looker Studio, Power BI and Google Sheets, with a free Apps Script and the quirks of Bing's data.
