A scheduled audit can email its PDF report to a client or to yourself after every run. Reports and alert emails are sent through your own mail server, so there are two steps: add your SMTP settings once, then switch on the report for each monitor.
Step 1: Add your SMTP settings
Open App Settings → Notifications → SMTP Email (for automated reports) and fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| SMTP Host | Your provider’s SMTP server, for example smtp.gmail.com. |
| SMTP Port | 587. Daylytix connects with STARTTLS; port 465 (implicit SSL) is not supported. |
| Username / Email | The login for the mailbox. |
| Password / App Password | The mailbox password, or an app password if your provider requires one. |
| From Address | The sender address clients will see. Leave it empty to use the username. |
Save, then click Send Test Email to check that it works.
Using Gmail
Use smtp.gmail.com on port 587. Turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account, create an app password at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, and use it as the password here. Your normal Gmail password won’t work.
Step 2: Switch on the report for a monitor
- Open Monitoring → Scheduled Audits, then add a monitor or edit one.
- Under Automated PDF Report, tick Enable.
- Enter the Report recipient email - one address per monitor.
- Click Save Monitor.
After each scheduled run, the PDF of that audit is sent to the recipient. Scheduled reports are currently in English. Alerts go to the monitor’s separate Alert email field, so a client can receive the report while alerts come to you.
What the email contains
- Subject: “SEO Report”, the monitor’s label, the score and the date.
- Body: the score, the mobile and desktop speed scores, CLS, the number of pages crawled, up to eight issues, and a link to the audited site. Your agency name appears in the body.
- Attachment: the full PDF report, with your branding from App Settings → Branding.
Sending a report now
On a monitor with the report enabled that has run at least once, click the button in its row. You can check or change the recipient, and the PDF of the last run is sent straight away. It does not start a new audit - use ▶ Run for that.
Troubleshooting
No email arrives
Check that Send Test Email works, that the report is enabled with a recipient, and that the monitor has actually run.
Authentication or connection errors
Check the username and password - Gmail and many other providers need an app password. Use port 587 and check the host name.
Emails land in spam
Send from an address on your own domain and set up SPF and DKIM for it with your mail provider.
