Page Semantics has a button that sends a page’s text to Google’s Cloud Natural Language API and shows what it reads: the entities, the content category and the sentiment. Use it to check that the text is about what you meant.
This shows how that API reads the text. Google does not say it uses this in ranking, so treat it as a check on your writing, not as a score. It is available on every plan, with your own Google Cloud key.
Before you start
- Save a key with Cloud Natural Language API turned on. See Your Google Cloud key.
- Open Content → Page Semantics in the sidebar. If you do not see it, click Show all tools at the bottom of the sidebar.
Checking a page
Paste the page address and click Google Natural Language. We fetch the page and send up to 4,000 characters of its main text.
Reading the result
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Main entity | The person, place, thing or idea the text is most about, with its share of the focus. If the page title does not name it, an idea says so: either put it in the title, or the text is about something else than you meant. |
| Categories | Where Google files the page, such as /Hobbies & Leisure/Crafts, with its confidence. |
| Sentiment | Positive, negative, or neutral and mixed, with the score and the strength. |
| Entities | Up to 25, most central first, with type and mentions. A name with a Wikipedia page links to it. |
The result also says how many units it used. Google counts about one unit per 1,000 characters for each of the three parts, so a 4,000-character page is 12 units.
Languages
Each part reads its own list of languages, on Google’s page in November 2026. You get the parts your language allows, and a note names the rest.
| Part | Languages |
|---|---|
| Entities | Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish |
| Sentiment | Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese |
| Categories | Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish |
For a language in none of the lists, you get a message from Google. The other button in Page Semantics, Analyse page, uses your Gemini key and reads the page in its own language.
